Betsy Alexander
Betsy Alexander's Biography
I have always wanted to paint, to put on canvas the colors I see. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, I lived in New York and London returning to my North Carolina roots in the late 80's. After taking drawing and watercolor classes for 6 years I found the Braitman Studio in 1997 and then Curt Butler Studio and there was able to find my own style and expression in the medium of oil. It allows me to create an expanse of color using different techniques to enhance the values and images. Drawn to landscapes and still life, any image where light and color dominate inspires me. Both the American and French Impressionists capture my imagination and I delight in the use of a stroke to define an image.
