Becky Denmark Bio

Becky Denmark is a native Charlottean with a Bachelors in Graphic Design.  In 2008 she began studying oil painting with Andy Braitman in Charlotte.  She was immediately drawn to the medium and was hooked. Growing up in Charlotte, her family took advantage of the proximity to the coast and the mountains of the Carolinas and took many trips over the years and her work reflects my love of both.  She is particularly drawn to the transition of sky to water and try to convey that feeling using a variety of tools and techniques. She generally starts by toning her canvas and builds the painting by applying layers of paint using both palette knife and brush, suggesting rather than describing the landscape.

Becky's current focus is to convey the mystery of the shore and what may be hidden around the next bend in the road by painting energetic landscapes that create a compelling viewer experience.
